A Core Belief Of Great Men And Women

There’s a quote (generally attributed to Robert Schuller) that success coaches like to use to challenge people:

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

It’s a good quote because it inspires people to operate at a higher level. However, there is a problem with this quote’s line of thinking…man’s ability, strength, and knowledge is limited.

So, given this limitation, let’s consider a much more powerful quote:

I am holy“.

This is a quote from David in Psalms 86:2. Now, let’s be clear on what David is saying in this quote…he’s NOT saying that he’s holy like God is Holy. So, let’s recast this quote into what David IS saying:

I am one who God favors“.

Permit me to say that again…except this time, I want you to read it as if it were true for you:

I am one who God favors“.

How does that feel?

I’m wondering…would it bring tears to your eyes and extreme gratitude to your heart if you were to find out that God favors YOU?

I’m wondering…what would your life be like IF you REALLY BELIEVED that God favored you?

How would you think? How would you operate? How would you interact with other people?

What great and wonderful things would you achieve and accomplish…all because God’s favor was upon you?

The trouble is…FEW of God’s people BELIEVE God’s favor is upon them.

Now, IF we are NOT in right relationship with God through Jesus Christ, then we KNOW we are not going to have God’s favor in our life. There are many verses throughout the Bible that tell us this and as an example, Proverbs 3:33 tells us, “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

But, assuming you are living, doing, acting, and thinking right before the Lord, then here is what you should know:

Thou [Lord] hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.” Job 10:12

As you live your life in Christ, here’s what you should know:

For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12

among the righteous there IS favour” Proverbs 14:9

However, there’s another aspect to having God’s favor in our lives…

In every aspect of life, there are ALWAYS two parts…there’s God’s part…and there is OUR part.

For example…

For whoso findeth [wisdom] findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against [wisdom] wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate [wisdom] love death.” Proverbs 8:35

Good understanding giveth favour” Proverbs 13:5

From verses like the previous two, we realize it is OUR responsibility to learn, to grow, to develop, to turn learning and knowledge into understanding and wisdom.

And for some, as they look back over the last few years, there hasn’t been much growth in the area of understanding and wisdom…there’s been a lot of complaining and blaming…but not much growth.

And the thing is, IF we fail to do our part, THEN we HINDER God from doing his part.

There’s another part that WE are responsible for…

A good man showeth favour” Psalm 112:5

Too often, people are so focused on GETTING favor from someone “above” them that they fail to GIVE favor to those “around” them. But, that man or woman who habitually puts effort into SHOWING FAVOR to others cannot help but experience a favor-filled life.

Bottom line, make whatever shifts and changes you need to make…so that you become fully persuaded that “I am one who God favors“…and your life will go through such an incredible transformation it’s beyond your current comprehension.
