The Prosperity And Increase Principle

Do you realize that the principle for prosperity and increase is expressed repeatedly throughout the entire Bible?

And yet, this principle still remains hidden to 95% of the human population.

So, knowing that this principle is freely available to all, why do so few people know about it?

It is because 95% of the human population has a certain mindset…

• They want somebody else to give to them.

• They want somebody else to do for them.

• They want somebody else to raise them up to a higher level.

• They want whatever it is that they want without regard to the long-term ramifications or consequences.

• Their lusts, passions, and desires for notoriety, recognition, prestige, power, etc. drive their every thought and action.

This mindset causes them to be BLIND to the principle for prosperity and increase.

Would you like to know what the principle is?

Here is one Biblical instance of it: “yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more“. 1 Corinthians 9:19

There it is…that’s it…and 95% of the world resists it and rejects it because it is contrary to what their “flesh” wants. They want somebody else serving them…and they DO NOT want to serve somebody else.

Here is another Biblical instance of the principle: “by love serve one another“. Galatians 5:13

So, the principle for prosperity and increase is simply this:

You can be as rich as you want to be if you will serve enough people in a way they want you to serve them.

But again, this is backwards from how 95% of the world thinks. The 95% think, “I will help and serve others AFTER I am rich.

Actually, their more truthful line of thinking goes like this, “I wish somebody would make me rich…I wish I could win a big lottery…I wish I could find a lost suitcase filled with millions…and if I could have this miraculous stroke of good fortune, THEN I would be willing to do a few nice things for other “disadvantaged” people (who are thinking and operating just like I currently am).”

That is backwards thinking my friend. You will get rich by FIRST helping and serving others.

Now generally speaking, once a person from the 95% crowd understands and acknowledges this principle, they then SHUT THEIR SELF DOWN with a line of thinking that goes something like this: “I don’t know if I have what it takes…I don’t know if I could do it…what if I can’t do it…etc.

Well, consider Galatians 5:6, “FAITH which WORKETH by LOVE“.

The point is, have some faith in God. Have some faith in how marvelously God created you. Start caring about OTHER people more and yourself LESS…start loving people MORE so that you get the opportunity to serve them.

And now, if a person from the 95% crowd makes it this far, then they SHUT THEIR SELF DOWN AGAIN with another line of thinking that goes something like this: “I just don’t know what to do…

Well, in what way do people turn to you for help, assistance, advice, guidance, or support?

What kind of problem do people bring to you for help with?

Whatever the answer is, THAT is what you want to ramp up to a bigger scale so that you can serve even more people.

And, if nobody ever comes to you for any kind of help, then that means you need to do some personal learning, studying, and developing so that you can gain some skills and expertise that is useful to other people…and as you gain this skill and expertise, people will begin showing up asking you for help.

  2. Lane,

I believe, yet have not received thus far!
I serve the inmate (jail) population here in El Paso,County CO teaching, helping, and discretely proclaiming the gospel for 14 years.
I understand that blessing will come in due season, yet I found myself growing tired and in need restoration.
It is safe to say I have reached thousands of souls, they have told me thank you, it is enough!
But, I would like to provide more to my family, but don’t know how?
As you say in the Bible, Galatians 5:6, “FAITH which WORKETH by LOVE“.

I have the measure of Faith, and wait!

  4. I agree that many people hold off from giving because they’re waiting until the can afford it more easily. I also agree that it is good to give straight away, even if it’s a small amount, because a)it’s good to start as soon as possible, b) God makes use of and appreciates small gifts c) God loves the effort or thought behind the gift more than the size of gift itself.

However, I am disinclined to think that those who give will be guaranteed to receive financial reward. I believe that those who follow God’s ways will not have worries but that is not the same thing. God clothes the lilies in the field but not necessarily in Armani.

Your call to serve one another is admirable but your use of Paul’s words is not quite accurate. He was making himself a servant to win followers, not cash. He shared the gospel to have a share in its blessings but he describes these blessings as love, peace and hope, not high standing and financial reward. Of course, at one point he says it is good for a priest or pastor to be paid, but he never says this should make them materially rich. Indeed, he alludes to the fact that material possessions are worthless and that spiritual treasures are much better.

It is certainly true that Christians can be rich. And many of the early ones were. But it is also true that being rich can lead to self-reliance rather than reliance on God. That is why it is harder for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Further, when you say that we will get rich by giving, I would have to say that there is no guarantee of that in the Bible. Christians are called to suffer in the material world and to rejoice in that suffering. At the same time, Christians will not need to fear death and will gain many spiritual rewards. But the promise of money if you give away money… haven’t read that bit yet.

Finally, a basic problem with seeking riches from giving is that it’s not really giving in that case. Giving is where you decide to go without so that someone else will have. Expecting riches for that ‘gift’ is an investment.

It’s entirely possible that I’ve misconstrued some of what you meant. Just thought I’d share my thoughts.

    God bless,
    Rob

  7. Lane-
You are good, at pinpointing one of the true ‘thorns in my side’. I have been unemployed for over a year, and currently struggling with the issue of not being 100% physically, or mentally able to go ask an employer for a job. I’m in the mindset that if God would only give me that one big break, then I could take it from there, and maintain the balance of his blessing. All the while, keeping myself shut-off from the rest of the world, except for church, and rare family get togethers, and not volunteering any of my talents, which I use to have a few, and people used to come to me, but not anymore. In the meantime, I have a ‘type A’ wife who was in a severe car accident, and has left her out of work, and her business is holding on by her past availibility, generosity, and positive influence on others. God is blessing us, as what income she was bringing in, was cut in half, and insurance, well, you know the answer to that one. So, I constantly have been a part of witnessing everyone coming to her for advice, and I’m just along for the ride of being her husband. We take God for His word, and I’m holding Him accountable for all His promises, but waiting is not one of my virtues. Frustrating as it may seem, becoming a grandparent has kept me grounded, and given me a sense of hope, for my kids, and grandkids, sake. At times, I just ask God to reveal his pain, and frustration to me, allowing me to try, and grasp the surreality of it all.

  11. Hi Lane,

I just wanted to say your email from yesterday reference ‘testing times’ was certainly right on the mark.
I was originally from UK but have spent the last ten years living in places such as Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan and now S.E. Asia.
I have been fully engaged in my business trying to further our Lord’s name through the commercial market place with some considerable success.
We have now hit a political impasse which is very testing in its severity…..but is turning out to be very useful as a time of stillness (Exodus 14:14) so that I can really study the Word to find the right path through.
I am President of my company so all eyes look to me to find solutions……..encouraging and supportive spititual insights like yours are truly invaluable in such times as these. Thankyou. Jc

  12. I have been looking for this in my own country here in Papua New Guinea. At last I am happy to find your blog.

  13. Hi Lane,
