Do You Chase Money Or Does It Come To You?

II Corinthians 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work”.

This is a familiar verse to most Christians but yet many people don’t get the full significance of it. So, let’s ask ourselves some questions:
  • Is there anyone or anything higher ranking than God?
  • When God is going to “make” something happen, can anyone or anything stop it?
  • Three times the word “all” is used in this verse…how much do you think God wants you to have?
  • When something “abounds” is their scarcity or lack?
  • When something is coming “toward” you, do you have to chase it or try to “catch” it?

We know that God is the Almighty, the Supreme Being, the Highest Authority, the Top Commander and it’s Him that is making and directing goodness for every area of our lives to come to us in abundance.

But there is a catch…

And it’s contained in the phrase “is able”. That let’s us know that there is a condition. This let’s us know that there is a responsibility on both our part and on God’s part. This lets us know that when we do our part, THEN and only THEN is He able to do His part.

So, what’s our part?

The answer can be found in Proverbs 24:4, “By knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

This lets us know that when we develop and expand our knowledge (see KEABA in previous posts) then God will make all abundance flow towards us in every area of our lives.

But, He doesn’t just poor abundance upon us for no reason. He pours His abundance upon us for a very specific reason… so that we are in a position to “abound to every good work”.

As a Millionaire For Jesus, can you see yourself abounding unto every good work?

I hope so because James 4:3 makes it clear to us that if we want abundance for the sole purpose of “consuming it upon our own lusts and desires” then God will not give us of His abundance.

God wants to teach you to profit…

Isaiah 49:18 shows Gods support for our success…

Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.”

Here are the key points that I see:

  1. The Lord is the one who leads us in the way we should go
  2. The Lord wants us to profit. Profits lead to wealth
  3. The Lord’s path gives us opportunities to use our God-given wealth to promote and expand His Kingdom
  4. If you are going through a difficult situation right now, it is an important part of your future success and profitability
  5. God wants to teach us. Are we willing to learn? Do we devote time to learning?

Do you know what God has pleasure in? Find out here…

Psalms 35:27 gives us this picture of God’s perspective towards us…

Let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.”

I see three important points in this scripture:

1. You should SAY it continually
2. God is pleased when you are prosperous
3. God should be magnified in your prosperity

The one thing you’ve never been taught that is your Christian duty..

Stay with me on this one for just a moment…

In Ephesians chapter 4, the apostle Paul teaches us how we are to live as Christians.

He teaches us that we are not to give place to the devil. He teaches us to get rid of bad language. He teaches us to put away bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, evil speaking and malice.

He teaches us that we are to walk in righteousness and holiness. He teaches us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, and to forgive one another.

And everyone knows all of this. But, there is one more thing that he teaches in this setting of scripture that most people either don’t see, don’t understand, or just ignore and that is,

“let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”

This scripture points out three things:
  1. Get to work
  2. Creating good things
  3. So that you have more than you need so that you are able to give to those in need

Can you see that it is God’s will for you to have the financial ability to do a work in His Kingdom?

A Daily Affirmation...

Psalms 23:1 says “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want”

When are you going to start really believing down deep in your heart of hearts that the Lord is your shepherd?

When you really believe and trust in the Lord, you’ll not lack for any good thing.
  1. You’ll not lack for money
  2. You’ll not lack for health,
  3. You’ll not lack for companionship
  4. You’ll not lack for friendship
  5. You’ll not lack for opportunities
  6. You’ll not lack for respect from others

You’ll not lack for anything that God deems good for you.

Do you find yourself lacking in any of these areas? Then here’s what you need to know…

Psalms 66:12 says, “but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.”

So start affirming to yourself multiple times every day, “Because the Lord is my shepherd, I don’t want for anything and the Lord is bringing me into an even wealthier place.”

If Your Bank Account Is Empty, Here Is Why…

Genesis 1:2 tells us, “And the earth was without form, and void”.

So, what does your bank account look like? Is it “void”?

What’s your plan to increase your KEABA? Is it “without form”?

Note: if you don’t know what KEABA is, see the end of this post.

People are attracted to value. People want to give their money in exchange for value.

What is value?

Something with a low value is something that isn’t very useful, isn’t very important, isn’t worth much.

Something with a high value is very useful, very important, and worth a lot.

If your KEABA is well developed, then your value to society is going to be high. If it isn’t, then your value to society is going to be very low.

The level to which your KEABA is developed is entirely up to you. You get to decide what your value is to society.

If you are tired of a bank account that is “void” of money, then you need to decide to put “form” to your KEABA development plan.

Coffee Cups, Favour, and Exalted Horns…

Let’s say you walk into a café where the dishes are pre-set on the table. You sit down and leave the coffee cup upside down. How much coffee is the server going to bring you?

That’s right, none. Even if the server were to be so foolish as to poor coffee on top of your upside down cup, you still aren’t going to get any because the coffee is going to run off the cup and onto the table.

But, if you turn that coffee cup up, now you are in a position where you can get some coffee.

Which way is your financial cup turned?

Have you got it upside down, making it impossible for the Lord to poor a blessing into your life?

In Psalms 89:17, David is talking about God and His people, “For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted”.

There are three really important points in this verse.

  1. thou art the glory of their strength” lets us know that God is to be glorified in our strength. Financial strength is a form of strength in which we can glorify God.
  2. in thy favour” tells us that God has placed his approval, support, and sanction upon His people.
  3. our horn shall be exalted” promises us that God will exalt us so that He can be glorified even more.

So, determine to glorify God in your financial life, realize that God’s favour is upon you, expect to be exalted to His Glory – and turn your financial coffee cup up where He can poor in your blessing.

This is what I’m talking about…

I just heard a true story that exactly illustrates what it means to be a Millionaire For Jesus.

A small church on the eastern seaboard started an enhancement project on their church. In all of their excitement over the project, they got a little over-zealous in fixing up their church. By the time they were finished, they had a $120,000 note at the bank that they weren’t sure how they were going to pay.

The pastor of the church went to the Lord in prayer, repented for their over-zealousness and asked for help. The Lord dealt with this pastor that if he and his church would help build up some other churches, then the Lord would take care of this church’s debt.

So, this small church went to work helping other churches. The next thing they know, a man walks into their church, tells them that the Lord laid it on his heart to write the church a check for exactly $120,000.

Let me ask you, who loses in this story?

Well the answer is that no one loses. The small church helped out other churches. The small church enhanced its appearance which can only help their church grow, and the wealthy man got a nice tax write-off.

Do you want to be that person who writes big checks that result in the expansion of God’s Kingdom?

If so, then decide that you too are going to become a Millionaire For Jesus.

This is what caused me to decide to become a Millionaire For Jesus…

There was a certain young couple who felt the call of the Lord on their lives to be missionaries to Mexico. Responding to this call, they forsook everything that is important to a young man and woman and went to Mexico to do a work for the Lord.

Within a couple of years, the Lord had blessed their work to the point where they really needed to build a church.

So, this young couple returns to America and starts traveling around to various churches across the country trying to raise the $12,000 they needed to build a church in Mexico.

Eventually, they arrived at the church I attend. They shared their story, they showed their pictures, they provided the proof that they were legitimate and the references of people who our church knew who could vouch for them and their missionary work, and then the offering was taken…

And we all gave…

To the tune of about $350. Just enough to purchase the gas and food they would need to get to the next church – where hopefully, they would get a better offering.

I can’t fully explain why, but it was like a knife went through my heart when I heard how small the offering was.

But, I couldn’t blame anyone else in our church for the small offering because I wasn’t in any better of a financial position to help this young couple than they were.

The thought of this young couple driving all over the United States trying to raise a measly $12,000 kept rolling over and over in my mind for weeks and weeks…

I mean think about it. This young couple had set aside all of their personal dreams for the Kingdom of God and they couldn’t find anyone who could help them.

After their visit, it seemed like every time I read the Bible, I would see and discover something new relating to the finances of God’s people. I soon realized that it was God’s will that His people be in a position where He can use them to do His will and His work when He wants them to.

I realized that every church needs to have at least one wealthy person in their midst. I realized that having financial capability is just as much of a God-given calling as being called to be a missionary is.

I responded to the call. I made a decision. By the help and grace of God, I was going to change my situation so that I could write a check to cover whatever need the Lord laid on my heart.

Today, Glory be to God, I am in that position!

By the way, there was a happy ending for the young missionary couple… a big church out in California took up an offering that was enough to purchase all of the necessary building supplies and then they drove a big bunch of their men down to Mexico to build the church.

Does this story strike a chord within you? Do you feel the call to become a Millionaire For Jesus? If so, decide to become one to the Glory of God. Make it an absolute committment between you and God.

Why didn't he do it?

It absolutely amazes me how people resist doing things that will benefit them.

Take for example, one of my clients. About a month ago I gave him a simple idea that I estimate would make him between $750 and $1,000 per day. All he had to do was make a very simple change to an existing process he used with his customers.

It was as "easy money" as you will ever see.

Today, I asked him how the idea was working out. He mumbled something about it was a "really great idea but he just hadn't done anything with it".

This is a business person who needs the money and he has cost himself between $23,000 and $30,000 for no known reason.

Why would he do this?

Or, a bit closer to home... why aren't you doing the things that you know can benefit you?

Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly…

I heard Tom Peters (a business author and speaker) make a statement one time that has really stuck with me, "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly".

What he meant is that if something is worth doing, Then do it. Take action. Move forward. Get going.

Then, if you don't do it all that well because you don't know everything, that's ok because as you start taking action, you will learn what you need to learn.

By moving forward, you will learn how to do it better.

Most people won’t take action until everything is “perfect” – they want to know everything, they must know exactly what is going to happen, they want to be sure everything will turn out ok. And, because it is in fact impossible for everything to be “perfect”, they never take action.

Think of Abram/Abraham in the Bible, he didn’t know anything about where he was going. He had no clue as to what was going to happen. All he knew was that God had commanded him to go.

And that is what you have to do. Go! Start taking action!

By taking action even when you don't know everything and even though you don't know how everything will turn out, you cannot help but end up in the Millionaires For Jesus club.

Also, keep in mind that your future success and security is dependent upon what you are learning, applying, and acting upon right now.

Some of your ventures will be successes and some of them will be failures but all of them are a "win" for you.

Why are they all a win for you? Because in each success and failure, you are going to learn invaluable lessons that will be critical to your future success.

In different words, at some point in the future, you will be looking your successes right in the face and you will realize that without the invaluable lessons of your past experiences - no matter how painful some of them may have been - there is no way you could be enjoying your successes without those lessons.

Now, get to work!

If you would like some help building and developing your KEABA and your plan of action, feel free to email me and I will be happy to work with you for up to an hour at no cost.

How well is the worlds’ system working for you?

The worlds’ system is to take our KEABA (See previous articles) and shackle us down to an 8-5 job in exchange for a steady paycheck, in exchange for benefits, in exchange for a 401K plan, etc.

The world tells us that life is safer and it’s more secure if you do it their way.

Here’s a small sampling of what happens when you follow along with their lie:

  1. They tell you how much you are worth.
  2. They will give you just enough to get by. If you are extremely disciplined, you can even get a little bit ahead.
  3. They tell you what benefits you can or cannot have.
  4. They tell you when you will work – including weekends if they so choose.
  5. You spend more time with ungodly people than you do with your own family.
  6. You have no time or energy to do a work for God.
  7. After you’ve given them your life and you are ready to retire, they tell you how you can and cannot spend your retirement money. If you don’t “obey” them, then they will penalize you by taking away some of your money (i.e. fines and penalties).

I could go on and on but you get the point.

So, my question to you is, “How can you truly say you are a servant of Christ’s when you are bound to the world’s system in order to survive?”

In the world’s system, you become just a “sparrow” among many other “sparrows”.

But God’s Word says we are of more value than many “sparrows” (Matthew 10:31 and Luke 12:7). In other words, you can have the income that is equal to that of “many” people in the world’s system.

But if we are going to have this level of income, if we are to become Millionaires For Jesus, then we are going to have to get out of this world’s system and get into God’s system.

As I said in the previous post, develop and expand your KEABA and start offering your KEABA on the open market.

KEABA
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, ABILITY, BELIEF, ACTION

Start thinking about your KEABA.

Start developing and expanding your KEABA.

Start offering your KEABA on the open market.

Henry Ford’s Incomplete Formula – part 3

Another key element missing from Henry Ford’s formula was - Planned Action

While we continuously work to fix and improve our belief problem, we also have to figure out how to make something happen relative to our knowledge, experience and ability. (God expects us to use the talents that we have and He isn’t concerned about talents that we don’t have.)

How do we make something happen?

Start asking yourself the following kinds of questions:

Note: to save space, I am going to use the acronym KEA to refer to knowledge, experience, and ability.

1. Who could benefit from my KEA?
2. Who wants to have my KEA for themselves?
3. Who wants my KEA but doesn’t want to get it for themselves?
4. Who wants my KEA because they don’t have enough time?
5. Who wants my KEA but doesn’t think they have the money or resources?
6. For those who have an interest in my KEA, how could I help them?
7. Who could benefit the most from my KEA?

Ask yourself these questions and write down as many answers as you can come up with.

Then, think some more and "DOUBLE" the number of answers you have written down. Once you do this, you will have really thought about you and your knowledge, experience, and
ability.

Now, look over your written answers. Which 1-3 answers looks like they hold the most potential? Ok, take these 1-3 items and write down a rough plan of how to pursue these
items or how to take them to the next level.

What questions do you need answered? Whose help do you need? What resources would be necessary?

Now, take action! Move! Pick up that phone! Write that letter! Email that person. Go see the individual that you need to see! Go ask some questions! Put together a
presentation and go present it!

Go do whatever it is that you know you need to do.

Henry Ford’s Incomplete Formula – part 2

Part of what was missing from Henry Ford's formula was - Belief.

Without faith and belief, nothing good is going to happen in our lives. So, the first thing you and I must do is fix our belief problems and have faith in God.

In simple terms, we have to believe that God wants to create beauty and wealth through us and in us.

In the Lord's Prayer, we hear Jesus praying, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven..."

Now, here are a couple of questions for you:

1. What's it like in Heaven?
2. What does God want it to be like in our lives here on earth?

First, the picture of Heaven that we see described throughout the Bible is a picture of peace, happiness, completeness, beauty, splendor, and untold wealth.

Second, the Lord's Prayer plainly tells us that God wants it to be the same way in our lives as it is in Heaven.

How did I get that you ask?

Well, since God's will IS done in Heaven we can say that Heaven is a picture of God's will. Further, since we have a pictorial description of Heaven, we have a picture of what
we should be trying to recreate here on earth in our lives -- and recreating that picture is God's will.

Henry Ford’s Incomplete Formula – part 1

Henry Ford made the statement, "The only real security that a man can have is a reserve of knowledge, experience and ability."

This is only partially true.

First and foremost, as Christians, we know that our security (both in this world and in the world to come) is of God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Second, in reality, there are lots of people with knowledge, experience and ability. In fact, you are one of them!

You have knowledge, experience, and ability -- but are you a Millionaire For Jesus?

Mr. Ford obviously didn't provide the complete formula in his statement.

I’ll complete the formula in the next couple of posts…

Famished souls versus pleasant riches...

Proverbs 10:3 tells us, "The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish".

The Word of God is true. God will not allow believers to starve to death. But, He will let them live paycheck to paycheck, living a life of barely getting by.

Proverbs 24:4 states, "By knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches".

Friend, if you want to increase your wealth you are going to have to increase your knowledge.

When we as people go spend money, do we spend it on ignorant people who can't give us what we want?

Of course not! We spend money on knowledgeable people who CAN give us what we want.

How can you increase your knowledge? While there are several different ways, reading books is the primary method.

"But I don't like to read." you say?

Then, "You don't like to be wealthy." I say!

If reading is hard for you, then help yourself get better by reading. Also, most public libraries have free programs designed to help people improve their reading. Go sign up!

How to have a happy and satisfying life...

In the previous post I described just a few of God's blessings in my family's life. And, while we enjoy these blessings and we thank God for them, in and of themselves, there isn't lasting satisfaction or happiness in them.

As you well know, there are many examples of people we could look at who have money but they have no real happiness or satisfaction in life.

The reason? Because as James 4:3 warns us, wealth and abundance are for much greater purposes than to just "consume it upon our own lusts".

Let me tell you how to have a happy and satisfying life... Love people. Help people. Lead people to Christ while you are loving and helping them.

Just yesterday, my wife felt a burden to go give some clothes to a needy family that we had become aware of. So, she gets them some clothes and goes to deliver them. Upon arrival, the mother of this family describes to my wife a very urgent financial need in their family. Further, this woman had called everyone one she knew asking for some temporary help -- but no one was in a position to help her.

So, my wife calls me up, tells me about the situation and we agreed that we wanted to help this family out.

As we helped this family out financially, we were able to to tell them about Christ and give them some Biblical principles and counselling. As we explained that Christ gave each of us the gift of everlasting life, we also explained that our financial help was a gift to them and that they did not have to pay us back. Their only responsibility, we explained, was that they had to help someone else out down the path of life and when they did, they had to share Christ with whoever it is that they helped out.

If you've never done this, you can't imagine the impact that it has on them and the "happiness in Christ" that it brings to you.

Last night, my wife and I went to bed with grateful hearts knowing that we had made a difference in the Kingdom of God. Now that is satisfaction and happiness.

By the way, I readily acknowledge that there are people with money who give significantly to various charities. And, while this is certainly better than nothing, I believe you and I are of much greater value to the Kingdom of God when we help people on a one-on-one basis.

As a person helping another person, you can have a much, much greater impact on people's lives when you help them directly.

I would dare say that much - and in many cases all - of the impact for Christ is lost when people end up at charities for help. Why? Because at a charity, people are just one of many. They are just someone in a line. Pretty much all personalization is gone.

When we look at the Biblical examples left by Jesus, we see that He either helped people on a direct basis, or He dispatched someone from within his inner circle to go help people. And now, as Christians, we are His inner circle dispatched to go do a work for Him. From my study of the Bible, I don't see anywhere where Jesus tells us to delegate our work for the Lord to some charity.

Please understand, I'm not bashing charities in this post. What I am telling you is that you and I have a GREAT work to do for God. You and I have a great commission from our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let's get to work for the Lord!

If all the money in the world was divided up...

According to the World Gold Council, there is the equivalent of 4,000 Billion US Dollars in reserves backing up the "money" that is floating around the world.

On the other hand, the International Programs Center tells us that there are just under 6.5 Billion people in the world.

So, if we divide 4,000 by 6.5, we see that there is enough gold in the world for every man, woman, boy, and girl to have $615 Billion dollars each.

If we were to throw in just a few more of the many assets our world contains, such as silver and oil our $615 Billion could easily triple or quadruple.

The fact is, God has created unfathomable wealth.

Do you think it's any problem for Him to give you a few million of it?

I don't think so!

Do you doubt that it's God's will for you to be wealthy?

Consider the following scenario:

You've got at least a months worth of "manual labor" that you need performed and you are looking for someone to help you with it. Just as you are thinking about who could help you, you notice a begger on the side of the road. You pull your car over and inform the man that you have at least a months worth of work that you would be happy to pay him for if he's interested. He quickly lets you know that he's not the least bit interested in your work - he's completely happy staying right where he's at.

Would you lose respect for this person because of his unwillingness to better himself?

If you are like most people, you probably would.

But yet, many, many people who profess to be Christians act out this very scenario before God every day!

What am I talking about?

Here is what Deuteronomy 8:18 says: "But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth".

Take a close look at the phrase, "for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth".

To me, this phrase means that God gives you and I the opportunity and capability to get wealth.

Are we going to turn up our noses at God and say we don't want to be wealthy?

Is it possible that peoplel feel more self-righteous and pious by continuing to be poor?

God forbid!

Spend some time thinking about this and then feel free to comment back.
